The Central Post Office of Valencia, officially known as the Correos y Telégrafos building, is one of the most impressive examples of early 20th-century architecture in the city. It is located in the heart of Valencia, in Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and continues to be used as a post office today.
The building was designed by the architect Miguel Ángel Navarro and constructed between 1915 and 1922. Its exterior combines classical and modernist influences, with an elegant façade decorated with columns, sculptures, ornamental details and large windows. One of its most recognisable features is the tower topped by a striking metal structure and the traditional postal symbols incorporated into the decoration.
The interior is particularly impressive. The main hall features a spectacular large glass dome decorated with the coats of arms of different Spanish provinces. The dome allows natural light to enter the building and creates a bright and colourful atmosphere.
The building is not only an important postal facility but also a significant architectural landmark in Valencia. Its central location makes it easy to visit while exploring Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the surrounding historic centre. It is an excellent example of how functional public buildings can also become important pieces of the city’s architectural heritage.
