The Turia Gardens

The Turia Gardens are one of the most distinctive features of Valencia and one of the largest urban green spaces in Spain. The park was created in the old riverbed of the Turia River after a major flood in 1957 led to the river being diverted away from the city centre.

Today, the former riverbed has been transformed into a long green corridor that crosses a large part of Valencia. The gardens connect many of the city’s most important attractions, making them an ideal route for exploring Valencia on foot or by bicycle.

Throughout the park, visitors can find large areas of grass and trees, colourful flowerbeds, fountains, playgrounds and sports facilities. There are also numerous historic bridges crossing the former riverbed, creating a fascinating combination of nature, history and architecture.
